SEE WHAT'S ON JANUARY 2017
Walking in blizzard like conditions

When the weather outside is frightful, snuggle up next to your Smithville television and check out these January 2017 treats:

Sherlock is back on New Year's Day. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reprise their roles as Sherlock and Dr. Watson, respectively for the premiere of Season 4. "The Six Thatchers" will play on your local PBS channel at 9 pm. The New Celebrity Apprentice hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger takes the stage on January 2nd. The former Terminator and governor of California is joined by new advisors Warren Buffett, Steve Ballmer, Tyra Banks, and Jessica Alba. Celebrity contestants include Boy George, Snooki, Lisa Leslie, and Jon Lovitz. The New Celebrity Apprentice premieres on NBC (channel 13) on January 2nd at 8 pm. A darker, adult version of the Wizard of Oz, titled Emerald City, debuts on NBC (channel 13) on January 5th at 9 pm. Dorothy (True Detective's Adria Arjona) is no longer a child; she's 20 years old, and even her canine companion has been upgraded to fierce police dog. Joely Richardson plays Glinda and Vincent D'Onofrio is the Wizard of Oz. Together, they find themselves in a land of "competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy"—which hints at a Game of Thrones vibe. January also brings us a plethora of awards shows including:  74th Golden Globe Awards January 8th, 8 pm NBC (channel 13) People's Choice Awards 2017 January 18th, 9 pm CBS (channel 4) Miss Universe January 29th, 7 pm FOX (channel 59) Finally, mark your calendars for the first-ever Senior LPGA Championship, July 10-12, 2017 at The Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort in Indiana. The Tour has reached a multi-year deal to both host the tournament and have it televised live on Golf Channel (Smithville Channel 56).
