2016 Olympics - Rio
  The 2016 Rio Olympics get underway on August 5th and dominates television programming for the bulk of August. The games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is in the same timezone as much of the United States, allowing the competitions to be shown live. The NBCUniversal network will offer a remarkable 6,755 hours of programming for the Games. The Olympics will cover 19 days, but if every hour of programming ran on one channel, it would take 281 days to complete. If you're not into the 2016 Rio Olympics or political discussions, you might check out truTV on channel 134. TruTV features comedy based reality shows, including Impractical Jokers, Billy on the Street, and Fameless. Each laugh riot lives up to truTV's claim that they are "Way more fun!" On August 23rd, the hit sketch comedy/educational television show, Adam Ruins Everything, returns to truTV. Starring Adam Conover, the show began as a CollegeHumor web series which debunked commonly held beliefs. Circled around a theme, Adam ruins everything from diamond or car buying to funerals. The show was picked up for 14 more episodes which will run through the fall of 2016. TruTV plays on channel 134.

Golf Channel

Golf returns to the Olympics again after a 112 year absence. The Golf Channel will provide 300 hours of tournament play, in-depth analysis and play-by-play recaps. Players will utilize a brand new golf course built at Reserva de Marapendi in Barra da Tijuca. After the games, the Olympic Course will be used to promote golf and tourism, leaving behind a lasting legacy. Men's Olympic Golf: August 11-14th Women's Olympic Golf: August 17-20th Before and after the 2016 Rio Olympics, the Golf Channel offers full coverage of golf play across the world, golf instruction, and tournaments including the PGA, European, and LPGA tour as well as the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup. The Golf Channel plays on channel 56.
