Smithville expands business services in Bedford, launches new gigabit-capable internet connectivity

BEDFORD (Indiana) – Smithville Fiber is expanding its award-winning high-speed broadband services into downtown Bedford, according to John Patten, Smithville president. Smithville will upgrade its Bedford network initially for companies and organizations in the center of Bedford.

“We’ve had the privilege of serving a few business enterprise customers in the city of Bedford for some time, so we’re pleased to be able to expand these services,” said Patten. “Smithville Business Advantage, our basic small business package, offers reliable fiber speeds up to 300 Mbps, but our new fiber capability will be scalable up to a gigabit of capacity and beyond.”

As part of the expanded services Smithville will offer voice, business security, business TV and optional packages for managed and cloud services. Based on the new technology platform, all internet speeds will be symmetrical (same data transmission speed up and down). While initial focus will be on offering the Business Advantage package, Smithville will also offer its Enterprise Premium and Enterprise Edge service packages in Bedford, both which offer gigabit level service.

“We have a great relationship with our established customers in Bedford and a number of small business owners have asked us when we’ll be expanding, so we’re happy to launch this new service,” said Todd May, Smithville director of sales.

Smithville expects to be lighting up new Bedford business customers by the end of June. May noted that Smithville will not initially be seeking residential customers outside of the designated downtown service area, but was exploring options to bring gigabit service to homes in Bedford.

The company previously launched its “GigaCity” symmetrical high-speed internet in Jasper and parts of Bloomington.

Smithville Fiber’s continuing commitment to fiber-based communications innovation has earned it a Top 100 national broadband ranking eight years in a row.
