Smithville expands Nashville gigabit fiber footprint, ramps up to symmetrical 1,000 Mbps for downtown area

Smithville makes additional quarter of a million-dollar investment in Nashville to bring state-of-the-art internet capacity to area.

NASHVILLE (Indiana) – Smithville Fiber, a recognized national leader in fiber-based, high-capacity broadband, has expanded its high-speed fiber network to serve downtown businesses and government offices in Nashville, according to Cullen McCarty, president of Smithville Telecom. “Since first offering our premier business fiber service in Nashville back in 2012, we have been making additional investments in our growing network,” McCarty said. “We now are actively serving a number of businesses and non-profits in the area with high-speed fiber and look forward to continuing to expand there.”

The company has now invested nearly $250,000 in the latest upgrade to expand true gigabit-level services.

Known for offering “Indiana’s best business Internet,” Smithville already provides fiber-based, high-speed connectivity and a variety of related services to healthcare, tourism, non-profit, government and other organizations in the Nashville area. Smithville has pioneered symmetrical gigabit (1,000 megabits) connectivity through public-private partnerships in other areas and cities in Indiana.

“This designation should send a clear message to businesses and companies considering Nashville as a possible expansion site,” said McCarty. “Smithville stands ready to have more businesses join our growing family of enterprise customers in Nashville.

“We have been thrilled with Smithville Fiber services,” said Kim Robinson, executive director of the Brown County YMCA. “We had several challenges with intermittent service with both our internet and voice service with the previous internet provider. Since switching to Smithville, we’ve had no downtime or glitches – it’s been wonderful.”

Ms. Robinson also noted that the YMCA is “pleased to be supporting and buying services from a locally owned company – that’s an additional plus.”

Smithville recently completed a new high-speed state-of-the-art fiber ring network throughout Indiana, which will increase its commercial service capacity to more than 100 gigabits.

Nationally recognized as a top 100 broadband company for the past eight consecutive years, Smithville operates high-speed fiber broadband service to Indiana certified technology parks, hospitals, manufacturers, financial institutions, municipalities and large non-for-profit organizations and school systems.
