Smithville celebrates decade of fiber service in Bedford

Smithville, a nationally recognized Top 100 broadband company, first brought its high-speed fiber service to Bedford in 2009, expanded to the EastGate Technology & Business Center in 2010.

BEDFORD (Indiana) – Smithville recently achieved its first decade milestone for the company’s state-of-the-art commercial fiber broadband service in Bedford, according to Paul Quick, Smithville President. The company, which was recently recognized as a Top 100 National Broadband Company for the 11th consecutive year, first brought commercial fiber-based broadband service to the Bedford area in 2009.

Since the company first began constructing fiber in the early 1990s, Smithville has made private investments totaling upward of a quarter of a billion dollars in its fiber network across the state. This includes more than $1 million invested in Lawrence County throughout the past decade. Today, Smithville enterprise-level commercial service is available throughout Bedford, including the EastGate Technology and Business Center, while small/medium business services are available in the downtown area.

“Smithville has been privileged to serve Bedford businesses and organizations with its world-class fiber service for more than a decade, demonstrating its long-time focus on innovation and legendary customer service,” said Quick. “In addition to healthcare, financial institutions and other major commercial operations in the Bedford area, we also are privileged to provide high-speed fiber service to companies like SAIC and TRISTAR in the EastGate Technology and Business Center.”

“We’ve been on Smithville’s high-speed fiber network for several years and it has always been extremely reliable and fast, which is paramount for our industry.” said Brandon Baker, TRISTAR’s Director of Corporate IT. “Combined with their capable and responsive team of local professionals, we couldn’t ask for a better partner.”

In addition to providing high-capacity fiber broadband service, Smithville supports numerous community programs and organizations in Bedford and Lawrence County, including the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council, the Bedford Boys and Girls Club, and other civic groups and causes.

“Smithville is a proven leader in providing high-speed and reliable broadband fiber service to rural Indiana, and we look forward to a new decade of providing outstanding service for the businesses and community organizations in Bedford,” said Quick.
