- EMAIL SCAM NOTICE
Smithville customers please note: some customers have received a bogus e-mail appearing to originate from a Smithville.com address that says:
- “WARNING A virus has been detected on your computer. Please call “Scammer number” to get this fixed!”
- "Dear User,
"Due to congestion on our web mail server, all unverified accounts will be deactivated within 48 hours. Please verify your information in order to keep your account active."
- No such condition exists on Smithville servers. The bogus e-mail then asks for the customer’s email address, password, and warning code.
As most know, this IS a scam. Customers should DELETE these emails immediately and NOT provide any personal information. Smithville would NEVER ask for account information, passwords, or payment information via email. Any suspect emails should always be reported to Customer Service immediately at 800-742-4084. Thank you!
